We collect only what's needed to make Whisq work. We don't sell your data. We don't show you ads. Your recipes are yours.
When you create an account, we store your email address (or Apple ID identifier if you sign in with Apple) to authenticate you. That's your identity in Whisq.
When you use the app, we store the recipes you extract, the reviews and ratings you create, any photos you upload of your cooking, and your personal cookbook rankings. This data is stored in our database so it's available across your sessions.
We also temporarily process video URLs you submit in order to extract recipe content. The URLs are sent to our server, which fetches publicly available video transcripts and uses AI to structure them into recipes.
We use a self-hosted analytics system to understand how the app is used — for example, which features are popular and where users run into issues. This data is stored on our own infrastructure and is never shared with third parties.
We use Sentry for crash reporting, which helps us detect and fix bugs. Sentry receives error data and basic device information when the app crashes. No advertising or ad-tracking services are used.
Whisq uses the following services to function:
Hosts our database and handles authentication. Your account data and recipes are stored on Supabase's servers.
We use their Whisper API to transcribe audio when video captions aren't available. Audio is sent to OpenAI for processing and is not retained by them after transcription.
We use their Claude API to extract structured recipe data from video transcripts. Transcript text is sent to Anthropic for processing.
Receives crash reports and error diagnostics to help us identify and fix bugs quickly.
Your data is used exclusively to provide the Whisq cooking experience — storing your recipes, maintaining your rankings, and syncing across sessions. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with anyone for marketing or advertising purposes.
Your data is stored securely on Supabase's cloud infrastructure with row-level security policies, meaning only you can access your own recipes and reviews. All data transmission happens over HTTPS.
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Settings screen in the app. You can also delete individual recipes from your cookbook. For any additional requests, contact us at the email below.
Whisq is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We may update this policy as Whisq evolves. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you through the app.
